Happy March! This week has been a great one! We started off with Read Across America Day to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. Check out our facebook page for pictures of our students dressed up for this fun day to celebrate literacy!
On Monday during All School Meeting, students showcased their learning from the first session of Guided Genius Hour. Students from each group, Animal Art, Inventions, Animal Superpowers, and Digging for Dinos, got to showcase and share their learning with their peers. It was great to hear the students explaining what they learned and showing off what they created. Pictures of this will also be posted on our facebook page next week. We will have a second Guided Genius Hour session starting in a few weeks.
Today, we had a special afternoon focusing on the water cycle. All the students learned about the water cycle in both Spanish and English. They learned a water cycle song, listened to a book, watched a video representation, and got to do even more activities to help them learn about the water cycle. Please ask your kids to tell you about evaporation, condensation, and precipitation this weekend.
Health Updates and Reminder
We wanted to take a moment to remind all families about our health policies and good hygiene habits. Please see the attached letter for important information about the Coronavirus and what we as a school are doing to prevent the spread of this and other illnesses.
Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of illnesses. We are reminding our students to wash their hands frequently. Please practice proper hand washing habits with them at home. A fun way to encourage thorough handwashing is to have the kids sing Happy Birthday the whole time they scrub their hands with soap. Additionally, particularly for our younger students, it is important to practice coughing and sneezing into the elbow rather than the hands, and using tissues to blow their nose.
